The Founding of Isoshikai Karate Do: Masters and Disciples
Shihan Jason Sigler
A founding father of Isoshikai Karate, Master Sigler has always given credit to the honorable masters he had the privilege to train under and alongside. He's life experience has molded his martial arts training until it evolved into what is now, Isoshikai Karate.
He earned a 5th Degree Black Belt in Budo Kan Karate Do in Kansan, Korea in October 2005.
He trained in Tang Soo Do under the tutelage of Grand Masters Jae Joon Kim, Chun Sik Kim, Kang Kil Kim, and Richard Morales.
He trained extensively in Arnis De Mano, Cali Tang Soo Do and Shotokan Karate under Master Rick Lindsey circa Aug 1996 – Jul 2001.
He trained in Wing Chun Kung Fu under Sifu David Leverette circa Aug 1998 – Jul 2001.
Master Sigler is a veteran of the United States Navy.
While assigned to the 1st Marine Division, he was charged with teaching defensive tactics and hand to hand combat from 2001 – 2002.
In April of 2005, he was assigned to the 7th Fleet Flag Ship USS Blue Ridge where he was charged with directing the Defensive Tactics, Hand to Hand Combat, Tactical Team Movements, and various aspects of the Anti-terrorism Force Protection Cadre Training Program.
In December of 2006, he was put on loan to the Japanese Defense Force to teach all of the aforementioned topics until reassignment.
From April of 2010 through September of 2010, he was assigned to a Personnel Recovery Unit in an undisclosed region of the Middle East to aid in the rescue operations of abducted service members.
Shihan Sigler has spent the past decade developing a way to bridge the gap between contemporary Tae Kwon Do and Traditional Karate.
The answer has been an evolution referred to as Isoshikai Karate Do (Translates to: “The Oceans Mighty Will”).
Bailey Killian has been called to practice martial arts since childhood. While life didn't always afford opportunities for training, karate would still always call to him and bring him inner peace.
Bailey met Shihan Jason Sigler in 2010 and began training with him immediately. After a year as a disciple of Isoshikai Karate, Shihan Sigler honored Bailey Killian by appointing him Taishō. Bailey Killian has proudly served ever since and continues to train under Shihan Sigler whenever the big rocks of life allow.
Senpai Dylan Elmore
Dylan
Elmore became a karateka of Shotokan in August of 2001 under Arnold Cooley in
Thomasville, AL. It was after three years that Shihan Jason Sigler came to be a
guest instructor of the dojo.
Shihan Jason Sigler appreciated the dedication
demonstrated by Dylan. He trained him specifically during that time and
Dylan was able to earn his black belt in Shotokan after another two years of
training.
In 2009, Shihan Jason Sigler invited Dylan to live
and train with him. After three months of intensive
training, he earned a black belt in Tang Soo Do.
During that time, Dylan trained in Gracie Barra
Jiu JItsu and some additional mixed martial arts grappling techniques. In
2011, he won three MMA fights with one KO, one Decision,
and one Submission. While he enjoyed his time with MMA, he thinks it has made
him appreciate traditional martial arts.
As the disciple that has trained the longest with
Shihan Jason Sigler, he has earned the honorific Senpai of Isoshi Kai Karate.
